When it came time to design Fendi's autumn/winter 2024 womenswear collection, London-born Kim Jones seemed back on the house's archives, particularly, the yr 1984. As he explained, "The sketches jogged my memory of London throughout that interval: the Blitz Youngsters, the New Romantics, the adoption of workwear, aristocratic type, Japanese fashion.
Jones added: "It was some extent when British subcultures and types turned international and absorbed international influences. But nonetheless with a British magnificence in ease and never giving a damn what anybody else thinks, something that chimes with Roman type."

The amalgamation of types culminated in a set that played with reconstruction and draping, even pairing aristocratic magnificence with Fendi's signature utilitarian contact. There was plenty of leather-based, denim and shearling, with asymmetrical knitwear masking one arm whereas falling at the shoulder of the other. The tailoring was gentle, notable within the equestrienne-look jackets that hugged the curves of female figures while styled with effortless, wide-leg pants. The coats, in wool and leather-based, have been lengthy and worn with a blasé angle, billowing behind the models as they walked. Meanwhile, the palette was largely earthy and cosy, with browns, mustards and khakis contrasted by the occasional pop of pastel, pink, aubergine or electric blue.

As is all the time the case with Fendi, there was a highlight on the accessories. The long-lasting Peekaboo, Baguette and By The Approach luggage have been introduced in shearling and leather-based, with Jones even introducing two new types: the Simply Fendi and Roll luggage. Roman magnificence, anchored in British attitudes.

"Utilitarian and lavish. Simple and theatrical. Salon and road. Town and country. It's an amalgam of each, where tradition meets subversion in blasé British type, that unites it with its Roman counterpart," Jones additional explained.
"On the similar time, for the ladies who wear these garments, it's basically about doing one thing somewhat than just being one thing."
